Tanya’s Cafe in London

Tanya's Cafe, London

I touched down in London last week! As you all probably know by now, I spent a week in London with Julian exploring the city. He’s a huge foodie and has been warming up to the whole idea of vegan food. Since it’d been so long since we last saw each other (7 whole months!), he surprised me on our first night by making dinner reservations at Tanya’s Cafe. It’s a raw vegan restaurant right around the corner from our hotel in Chelsea. It was so special that he really wanted to try it and had thought of me.

I’d like to start by talking about dessert because- well, let’s be honest it’s always my favorite part of any meal.

My darn sweet tooth just won’t go away, even when I’m traveling! Tanya’s had an entire fridge stocked with healthy, clean treats to choose from making it impossible to pick just one. So I went for this caramel slice topped with raw chocolate to start out. Needless to say, it was so delicious I didn’t even share it with my boyfriend.

Tanya’s Cafe is a fully raw, vegan & organic superfood cafe.

They offer cold pressed juices & coffees to go along with breakfast, raw food dishes for lunch & dinner, and even superfood cocktails after 4pm. I’d done some research ahead of time on the top vegan hot-spots I needed to try, and Tanya’s was definitely on the list. Kudos to my boyfriend for picking it as the perfect first date night spot.

After the caramel slice blew me away, naturally I wanted more sweets. So I tried out the raw, refined sugar-free almond butter cup which may have been small in size but was overwhelmingly amazing in terms of taste. I had to stop myself from going back for more!

For our main course, we shared the “rawchettas” to start.

They came with onion bread, lettuce & sun-dried tomato salsa alongside herbs, red pepper hummus, spring onions, marinated veggies, and almondaise. So, basically it was a raw vegan version of bruschetta that was full of flavor & really light. Then, I got the nachos: dehydrated sweet corn chips with walnut oyster mushroom “meat”, guacamole, soured cashew cream, and salsa. I was so stuffed after eating all of this I couldn’t even try my boyfriend’s green thai curry kelp noodles. Sorry for the lack of photos, but it got dark and to be honest we enjoyed the food so much we ate it so fast. There wasn’t even time to take pictures!

I begged my boyfriend to go back with me for breakfast, so we did. I’m such a big breakfast person. Growing up my mom always reminded me that, “it’s the most important meal of the day”. So, I couldn’t wait to start the day on the right foot with an energizing, healthy breakfast.

My boyfriend got the avocado “un-toast”: soft onion bread with smashed avocado and chili flakes. I’m the type of person that puts avocado on literally everything so this was a great choice in my opinion.

As for me, I was so excited to try the jam “un-toast”.

It’s raisin bread with cashew cream cheese & raw goji jam. After the first bite, I was like “yum, this is amazing”. Then, I proceeded to devour the entire thing in a couple of bites. And just look at how beautifully plated it was. Every dish was like a work of art.

Not only is the food top notch at Tanya’s, but also the atmosphere is just incredible. It’s tucked away in this little greenhouse on the ground floor of myhotel Chelsea. It’s an eco-friendly and sustainable boutique hotel filled with plants, crystals, and bright colors. Once you step inside, you’re transported to a wellness oasis filled with positive vibes.

As for my drinks, I would say go for the chai tea latte with almond butter & dates.

Sure, it may be summer but it’s actually still cold in London! It meant I could cuddle up to this warm and comforting latte. I was so happy that we found this gem of a restaurant in London. It was a really calm, nice place to go and relax amid the hustle of the city. The staff was nice and all the food was prepared for us fresh on the spot, except for anything that had to be dehydrated or left in the fridge overnight of course.

Plus, all the bright colors and plants gave me some major decor inspiration. Just look at that lime green. If you’re planning to visit London, swing by Tanya’s Cafe and give it a go. Even my boyfriend who is not vegan wanted to keep going back for more. Also, be sure to check out my vegan food guide to London.
