I’m on that smoothie grind! Last week I shared the recipe for a deliciously refreshing mango blueberry dragon fruit smoothie. Smoothies are super easy to make, incredibly healthy, and a great way to start the day in my opinion. Today, I’m having a blue crush with this blueberry blackberry smoothie. It’s June, meaning blackberries are in season now so I’m really excited to share this seasonal treat. This 4-ingredient vegan blueberry blackberry smoothie is light, creamy, and perfect for the summertime!
I opened up last week, shared a couple of smoothie tips, and dished on my food philosophy. You can read all about that here. I love starting my day with a big mason jar full of a fresh fruit smoothie! It fills me up post-workout and leaves my belly fully satisfied. There are endless possibilities for flavors, so I took a cue from Mother Nature with this blueberry blackberry smoothie.
All you need are 4 plant-based ingredients: frozen bananas, frozen blackberries, frozen blueberries, and water.
That’s all you need for pure smoothie bliss! I like simple smoothies like this one, because they’re ready in a jiffy and create such minimal mess. I make all my smoothies in my food processor, because it’s nicer than my cheap $15 blender but I’m aware that most of the human population makes smoothies in a blender. Either way works!
Since I normally stick to all frozen fruit for my smoothies, I use water to help it blend together better. Chunky smoothies bother me, so I add water a little bit at a time until I get a smooth and creamy consistency. Sometimes when I run out of frozen bananas, I’ll throw in a fresh ripe banana in there but frozen fruit is always ideal.
Blueberries and bananas are two of my favorite fruits, so that was a no brainer. I don’t eat blackberries that often, so I was a bit skeptical at first but after hearing everyone rave about them lately I was inspired to give it a go. The blueberry + banana + blackberry combination was epic and I’m really proud of how it turned out!
What’s great about smoothies is they’re basically full-proof.
You really can’t go wrong. I find it really hard to mess up smoothies, except for the first time 4 years ago when I froze bananas with the skins on. But that’s another story. I hope you give this blueberry blackberry smoothie a go and enjoy it!
