Take Your Pleasure Seriously

pleasure

I’m back! We just arrived back in Hong Kong this morning after a 2 week trip traveling around southern France, ending in Paris. First of all, thank you to everyone who’s been patiently waiting. I offhandedly decided to take a 2 week break from blogging, so that I could really truly enjoy my time adventuring around the French Riviera with my boyfriend. It’s been a good reminder to take your pleasure seriously.

We found it hard to find wifi and really didn’t care much for it anyways, since we were road tripping meaning we were constantly moving from one place to the next. The longest we spent in one hotel in southern France was 3 nights in Saint Tropez and 3 nights at the most romantic B&B outside the small town of Mougins. Besides that, it was only 1 or 2 nights in most places, which wasn’t even enough time to make it worth unpacking much less spending precious time on the internet. We wanted to immerse ourselves everywhere we went. It was the best way to see the whole Cote d’ Azur in my opinion, since we stopped in over 10 different villages or towns which each had its own character and feel to it.

The slow way of living

Needless to say, I had the time of my life and my boyfriend and I survived our longest vacation together yet without wanting to rip each other’s heads off. I actually think it brought us closer than ever, because both of us were quite out of our element in France to be perfectly honest. We had to adjust to the slow way of living, which reminded me a lot of how I grew up in the South. It was an entirely spontaneous adventure, because every time we got to a new place we had no idea what we’d get ourselves into. Besides our hotels, we had nothing planned so we’d just improvise. We sure came back with a boatload of funny stories and precious memories.

My favorite hotel by far was the little quaint bed and breakfast we stayed in near Mougines.

The B&B was only a 15 minute drive from Cannes. It was a rustic, secluded house with only 4 rooms, a heated outdoor pool, jacuzzi, and gardens. Our room was in the attic with a small fireplace, bath, and multiple reading nooks. It was the coziest place I’ve ever stayed in, not to mention how homey and comfortable it felt. It was in the country too, which made me realize how even though I try to be a city girl I’ll always feel more at home in the country.

Before I write a novel here about our trip, I’ll leave you with this: take your pleasure seriously.

I mean allow yourself to relax and travel and enjoy life.

When I first left for vacation, I felt a bit anxious and worried about not blogging or working for 2 whole weeks. I thought I’d be letting people down and that I wouldn’t feel like I had a purpose. But pleasure is a purpose in and of itself. Isn’t it? Life is too short to not give yourself time off. I definitely deserved it and am back with renewed energy, spirit, and mind. I’m so happy to be back to blogging and look forward to a fun week ahead!

I seriously loved this post! I know these feelings exactly. Life is beautiful in it’s brevity and I don’t want to miss a second of it. I also have this as my new desktop wallpaper so that I can feel inspired whenever I find myself lacking! Thank you xx
