Do Whatever. Be Weird. It’s Okay!

I found this mantra on Shop Ban.do and it instantly connected with me. My parents have been in town visiting from the United States (so sorry for my absence lately!). We were talking at dinner about how I’ve always been quirky and different. My dad said that I beat to my own drum and it’s true. I’m weird in my own way, but I embrace it and always follow my heart! I am who I am and I don’t pretend to be anyone or anything else. Click through to get this free desktop wallpaper download.

I believe it’s important to embrace your individuality.

Growing up in the suburbs of Atlanta, I always had my head in the clouds. I was full of all these big hopes and dreams, loved to travel, and stuck to my own style even though it went against the grain. Seriously, in high school I often let my hair go all natural instead of curling it or straightening it like everyone else. So basically, it was a big curly frizz ball but I didn’t care. I wore the funkiest Free People tops with flare leg jeans and even had a pair of silver & black Coach boots while everyone else had Uggs. Sure, these may seem like little things but in high school they were a big deal!

In college, I felt more pressured to look and be a certain way as a sorority girl.

But once I met my boyfriend during my sophomore year, I felt like I had the freedom to truly be myself again. He let me be who I was and loved me for it. I’m a kid at heart. I love animated movies and cartoons. I have a serious Harry Potter obsession. I’m messy and quite clumsy. I am non-confrontational and have a weird habit of twirling my hair when I get nervous.

All of these little quirks are part of who I am.

I am weird and do what makes me happy. I’ve found that’s one of the biggest keys to happiness: to not care what other people think and to embrace your true self!
