Do What Makes You Happy

do-what-makes-you-happy

When I was applying to college, I had the hardest time deciding what my major should be. I really didn’t have any idea what I wanted to do as a career for the rest of my life. Unlike those lucky few who knew exactly, I really felt like I didn’t have a clear path. It freaked me out. Fast forward 5 years and the answer now seems so clear: do what makes you oh-so happy.

First things first, I don’t claim to be any sort of expert on this subject.

Not knowing what I wanted to do, I decided on media studies. I enjoyed it, thrived in my classes for the most part, and graduated with honors. I highly value my college education and am thankful for being lucky enough to have parents that supported me. I’m grateful for the opportunities I’ve had. And for the record, I believe everyone should go to college!

However, I expected college to give me all the answers. I thought it was my golden ticket to finding out what I was destined to do. However, it wasn’t until after I graduated and starting working that I really discovered my passion. While working at a boutique digital agency in Los Angeles, I became vegan and the rest is history.

I fell in love with the vegan lifestyle, started spending all my free time experimenting in my kitchen, and scouring the farmer’s markets on the weekends. I met like-minded people that inspired me to experiment with new foods and venture out of my comfort zone. I felt happy.

All of this led me to start this blog as a leap of faith.

I honestly feel like I found my true calling. I love being able to share easy, delicious vegan recipes, my travels, and daily musings. When I started my blog, I couldn’t imagine that it would grow to be such a cornerstone of my life and my happiness. I found this quote on Tumblr and it perfectly describes how I feel.

It just goes to show that you never know what will happen that will lead you on the right path.

The best chance you have is to do what makes you happy. Take risks, be adventurous, and leave your fears behind. Because once you start pursuing what you really love, I bet you’ll find that happiness inside of you too!
