Creativity Is intelligence Having fun

creativity is intelligence having fun

I used to not think of myself as a creative person. In high school, I was a big book worm and as such considered myself more studios that creative. But this quote by Albert Einstein really made me rethink and reassess my point of view for the first time. Creativity is what fuels me, drives me to develop new recipes, and makes life interesting.

In the past, I always associated “creativity” with being artistic.

Painters, singers, artists, musicians, novelists, and illustrators. They were creative. I focused on my studies and wanted to excel in school more than anything. I was in the drama program in high school, played piano growing up, and enjoyed filling in coloring books but that was about it. I never considered myself a traditionally creative person.

But now, I see that I had it all wrong. There’s more to creativity than this stereotyped idea. When I worked at a digital design & marketing agency based in Los Angeles, I was always coming up with new ideas on how to pitch our clients, crafting a brand story on social media, and developing new strategies to gain publicity. I learned how to do basic coding, create custom websites, design custom graphics on Photoshop, and style & edit photos.

When I became vegan, I started to teach myself how to cook and literally fell in love with it.

I borrowed a professional camera and started taking photos in my apartment. I had zero props, zero experience, and zero idea what I was doing. But the more I learned, the better I got at it. I had to be creative and make the most of what I had at the time. After a while, all of these experiences led to me brainstorming and creating this blog from the ground up. And look where I am now! Now, I see that all along that I have been creative.
