Wish List Wednesday // Thanksgiving Table Ideas

thanksgiving table ideas Every month in the fall, there’s a holiday to celebrate. I think that’s why fall always seems to go by so incredibly fast! I literally blinked my eyes and already Halloween and our friends’ wedding in Thailand zoomed by in a flash. Now, I’ve got my mind set on Thanksgiving, brewing up comforting, vegan-friendly recipes that are great for sharing with friends and family. However, a Thanksgiving meal would not be complete without a festive table to eat at. So, I gathered up these lovely, colorful Thanksgiving table ideas that have really inspired me lately!

I’m still trying to decide what we’re going to do for Thanksgiving this year, because it’s not celebrated by many people in Hong Kong. My family will all be gathering in Clayton, Georgia where my grandparents live to do their annual traditional Thanksgiving dinner the only way Southerners know how- with a full-fledged buffet at The Dillard House.

Last year, my boyfriend and I went to Phuket for Thanksgiving where we had an untraditional Thanksgiving feast of the most delicious Thai food. But now, I’m not sure what to do because we’ll be spending it at home here in Hong Kong. I’ve never cooked for Thanksgiving before and, to be honest, I find it quite intimidating.

I’ve been debating whether I should put together my own Friendsgiving. I really would love to cook a 4-course, fully vegan meal for the first time and invite all our friends to come together. I think a Friendsgiving gathering is the best way to celebrate when we can’t be with my family, but the major problem I face is that it’s a little too last minute to plan. Could I pull it off in just 1 week?

I’m not sure what my plans are, but I do know I’ll be decorating our Thanksgiving table no matter what. So here are some simple, autumn tabletop ideas:

  1. Modern, rustic kids table with retro acorn placemats (100 Layer Cake-let
  2. Moody color palette of matte black, wood tones, grey, copper, and lots of green  (Minted)
  3. White, gold, and soft green floral arrangements (Designlovefest)
  4. Carefree, mix-and-match tablesetting with a fresh garland (Apartment 34)
  5. Rustic farm table with vibrant hues of orange, red and plum (Green Wedding Shoes)
