Modern Boho Home

modern boho home | Days Like Laura

My boyfriend likes to make fun of me because he says I’ve turned our apartment into a boho hippie den. The second I moved back to Hong Kong, my priority was redecorating our small apartment to make it extra cozy and homey. I’ve always gravitated towards modern, hippie-ish decor inspired by the outdoors. From our travels in Bali and Thailand, I’ve gathered some great eclectic pieces that mix neutrals with bright pops of color here and there. I can’t get enough of the modern boho home.

My biggest inspirations for interior decorating come from traveling.

I love discovering creative artisans all over the world and no matter where I go I always come home with a fun keepsake. When we were in Bali, we found a locally made aztec rug that’s a beautiful mixture of deep orange, navy blue, ivory, and brown. In Thailand, we picked up a small dreamcatcher made with woven tassels, pom poms, and seashells to hang on our wall. It makes for quite an eclectic, thrown together style but looks more refined with certain staple pieces, like matching pillows, woven textiles, plants, and string lights.

Here’s home decor inspiration for all the modern bohemians out there.

1 / Minimal boho bedroom

This minimal boho bedroom perfectly blends of Scandanavian and boho style. The simple pendant light and blank white walls make the space feel more open. The neutral and gold colors are accented with a bright rug and dark mauve linens.

2 / Moroccan inspired bedroom

This Moroccan-inspired bedroom has a big floral patterned headboard. The Moroccan rug, duvet cover, and pillows are a nice neutral ivory. Plus, I love all of the trees framing the window. And that chandelier is beautiful!

3 / Exotic meets boho Bali villa

This pool villa in Bali perfectly blending beachy and boho. It has a beautiful outdoor shower and terraced dining area. With black and white accents and concrete floors, it mixes industrial modern with a boho sensibility.

4 / Modern rustic bohemian

This modern meets rustic bohemian living room mixes neutrals with dark tan. The leather accents add pops of color to the otherwise neutral palette. I love the mix of different white textures in the pillows, wall hangings, and chairs.
