Minimal Kitchen

You guys, I made it to Hong Kong! After a 2 hour flight to Toronto and 16 hour flight from there to Hong Kong, I finally made it. My flight basically consisted of being squished in the middle seat on-and-off sleeping and watching movies. But that’s all behind me because I’m here and hitting the ground running. Thanks for being patient with me while I play catch up for a bit and get adjusted! I’m still trying to get used to the time change and jet lag is definitely kicking in. So, after spending most of last night unloading my 4 huge suitcases, I just relaxed with my boyfriend. I’ve got to adjust to the smaller space and am finding inspiration in this simple, minimal kitchen.

Now, I’m trying to get a head start on reorganizing and restyling our apartment. First things first, the kitchen! Our entire apartment is only about 550 square feet, so it’s a quaint space and every little nook and cranny counts. Since the kitchen is where I like spending most of my time, I’m dedicated to making the most of it. It’s all about open shelving, big windows, white tiles, and greenery.

Here’s inspiration I’ve pulled for the design of a minimal kitchen:

  1. A white Smeg would be a dream come true, but potted plants & glass jars are doable
  2. Simple handmade ceramics and pottery filled with dried flowers
  3. I like the idea of keeping it mostly white with pops of color & copper
  4. Hanging kitchen essentials like cutting boards, spoons, and pots is genius
  5. Big windows let in plenty of light, really opening up the space
