There’s nothing better than al fresco dining with friends and family in the spring. The weather is warm, the flowers are beginning to bloom, and the air feels fresh. Al-fresco dining tends to have a more laid back, casual atmosphere than what you’d get in a restaurant. It’s more spontaneous and lively, just my style. Plus, it’s a great excuse to get outside, gather around good food, and enjoy each other’s company over a bottle of wine.
Here’s what I think would be make for a pretty ideal al-fresco experience:
- A small picnic in the grass with freshly picked strawberries & wine
- A warm and cozy country style brunch on a vintage wooden table
- A big gathering set up in a field surrounded by lots of greenery
- A magical evening of fireside cooking and grilling in the forest
- Anything, anywhere as long as there are twinkle lights involved
There’s nothing quite like enjoying a meal outdoors. I love the idea of cozying up on the ground Japanese-style with blankets and pillows for comfort. I think a minimal table works well, or you can glam it up with twinkle lights overhead and greenery on the table. Candles are a must of course, because you’ll need the light to see your food when the sun goes down. Plus, it adds a hygge ambiance that’s warm and inviting.
