So we just passed the midsummer solstice, which marks the day that the sun appears highest in the sky. There’s a lot of astrological and historical background to it, but from what I’ve gathered it is a time to celebrate all over the world. So no matter where you are, I hope you celebrated in whatever fashion you like: eating, drinking, dancing to music, or gathering with friends. For me, it mostly involved eating as it always does.
The solstice marks the first official day of summer which I’m excited about for many reasons. Mainly, I’m going to be dedicating this summer to taking care of myself. I want to relax and embrace the inner “me” by giving myself plenty of self love and hopefully sharing this with others. I want to find a sense of peace and calm this summer, since the past year has just felt like a constant, repeating cycle of non-stop work. I’ve fallen into a pattern and a routine.
There’s nothing wrong with that but I’ve found that in a way I haven’t taken time to stop and really think. So now that it’s summer, when most people are taking vacations, spending time outdoors, and giving themselves time off, I figure it’s time for me to do the same. With that, I hope to reconnect with who I am and I hope you can do the same. And of course, that means treating myself to lots of delicious & nutritious food.
