Since we’re going out of town for most of December, we didn’t want to spend too much money on a big Christmas tree this year. But I just couldn’t stand going without one, so me and Julian negotiated and settled on getting a small 4 foot tree. We put it up right after Thanksgiving, excitedly filling it up with all our sparkly, metallic ornaments. It’s such a happy sight to come home to every day! I’ve been seeing a bunch of non-traditional, bright & colorful Christmas trees this year, so here’s a round-up of my 4 top picks for festive, fun tree decorating.
If you’re like me, then you can never ever have too many ornaments for your Christmas tree. Ours is an eclectic mix of ornaments I’ve picked up on our many travels. Plus, I got a big box of more classic gold, sparkly bulbs last year to fill up our big tree, but now they won’t all fit on our smaller tree this year. I packed as many darn ornaments as I could on it, so it’s super full!
Speaking of trees, nobody warns you that old Christmas lights can be dangerous. I dug out our lights that we used last year and was putting them up, when all of a sudden an electrical pulse shot through my hand. It hurt so bad! I now have a tiny red dot on my hand from where I got shocked as proof. Disclaimer: half of the lights weren’t working when I tried putting them up. But hey, I didn’t want them to go to waste!
Anyways, I hope you all have a safe time putting up your tree for those that celebrate. And happy holidays to everyone!
