How To Design an Elegant Easter Table

Spring may not start for a couple of more weeks, but will the incessant rain in Hong Kong lately I am ready for it. Julian and I will be traveling home to the States to visit my grandparents and spend Easter with my family. That got me to thinking about how to put together a pretty Easter table setting. As I find myself increasingly drawn towards minimal design, I’m excited to share my three tips for how to properly design the most elegant Easter table setting.

Keep it simple

I don’t consider myself any expert by any means. But after spending countless hours with my mom and our fine art wedding planner last year pouring over design details, I do think I got the basics nailed down.

One thing you can always do when you’re unsure is pair back. You don’t need a lot of “fluff” to make something look pretty. As they say, less is more and often adds a touch of effortless elegance. 2019 is all about finding beauty in simplicity.

Opt for Candles

Line the table with bold white candles, pretty tealight candles in glass voltives, or a couple of tall white tapered candles. Better yet, do a combination of any of the three. Even during the day, candlelight adds a soft and romantic touch.

Pick a color scheme

The design process always starts when I decide on a color scheme. Pick three colors and actually write down the HEX numbers, print out samples, or go find paint chips. Whatever way you do it, consistency is key. So carry around your colors and try to find linens, accent pieces, menus, and so on that match them. Again, keep it simple and try to narrow down your colors to three or four. Different shades of the same color is fine, as long as they still fit within your color scheme.

Embrace White

You can never go wrong with white as a base. Especially in spring! It’s clean and organic. Whether it be a white table cloth, white linen napkins, white ceramics, or white foliage, it really brings light in. White instantly makes a setting feel minimal, because it provides a blank canvas on which simple touches speak volumes.
