These raw chocolate & coconut energy bites taste like little delicious, bite-sized brownies! They’d be perfect to have for a post-workout snack, on-the-go treat, or dessert. Packed with wholesome ingredients like raw almonds & raw cacao powder, they’re completely vegan, gluten-free & free of refined sugars. So you can get your chocolate fix the healthy way.
Energy bites are one of the most simple, nutritious snacks out there. You only need to blend together 6 basic ingredients and they’re ready in no time! I make them constantly during the week because they’re super yummy and always satisfy my cravings for something sweet. I’m so impatient sometimes. I don’t have time to bake or am so hungry that these raw chocolate & coconut energy balls become lifesavers.
The base is made up of almonds, rolled oats & chewy Medjool dates. To get the chocolatey flavor without any dairy, I use raw cacao powder which is full of antioxidants and much richer than conventional over-processed “cocoa”. For the finishing touch, I love rolling these balls in unsweetened dessicated coconut.
You wouldn’t believe how rich & naturally sweet these are! I threw in some coconut sugar too for a little extra sweetness so they really do honestly take like brownies. Except they’re raw. I could only have a couple at once, because they fill me up faster than usual which is good because then they last longer.
They’re really kid-friendly too, just try swapping out a regular granola bar or chips for one of these. I promise they’ll be an instant hit! I’ve taste-tested them on a couple of my friend’s kids, all of whom come back with big thumbs up. I think these energy bites would make a great gift or addition to a potluck too.

- 1/2 cup raw almonds
- 1/2 rolled oats, gluten-free
- 1 cup Medjool dates, pitted
- 1 tbsp raw cacao powder
- 1 tbsp coconut sugar
- 1 tbsp unsweetened dessicated coconut, for rolling
- Add almonds and rolled oats to a high-speed blender or food processor.
- Process until they're completely broken down into a flour-like consistency.
- Add Medjool dates, raw cacao powder, and coconut sugar and process.
- Continue to process until a sticky ball of dough forms.
- Scoop out by the tablespoon and roll into balls between your hands.
- Roll balls in coconut.
- Place in the freezer for 1-2 hours to set.
*Store in the fridge for up to a week.
