cacao puffs // a healthy, 3-ingredient chocolatey cereal Remember coco puffs? That super sweet, sugary, chocolatey cereal you most likely ate as a kid. I sure do. I even got in trouble one time because I ate it right before a dentist appointment. Well, the point is I made a much healthier version with only 3-ingredients that you can whip up in under 5 minutes! Welcome to vegan cereal heaven.

cacao puffs // a healthy, 3-ingredient chocolatey cereal All you need: brown rice puffs, coconut nectar, and raw cacao powder. You can sub any liquid sweetener for the coconut nectar! I just prefer coconut nectar for the taste and it’s low glycemic which means your blood sugar won’t spike.

As for the brown rice puffs, just check the cereal aisle at your local health foods grocery store. That’s where I found it. Be sure to get the plain one with nothing added (lots of brands try to sneak some extra ingredients in there)! As always, the entire recipe is vegan, gluten-free, and refined sugar-free meaning this cereal is a whole lot healthier than the ones you’ll find at the grocery store.

Cacao literally translates to “food of the gods” which perfectly sums up how amazing it is. As chocolate in its purest form, raw cacao is packed full of antioxidants, nutrients, protein, and fiber. Plus, it can help improve digestion and boost your mood. There’s definitely a reason why they call it a “superfood”.

You just pour the coconut nectar over your rice puffs, mix until they’re evenly coated, and then cover with the cacao powder and mix again. I literally made it in under 5 minutes and couldn’t believe how yummy it was. Minimal effort required for this one which makes it perfect if you’re rushing out the door in the morning (which is almost always the case for me).

The cacao powder will mix with the milk to give you the best ever, all-natural chocolate milk. It tastes kind of like a chocolate milkshake. Let’s just say this is one of those breakfasts I could make over and over and never get tired of it.

  • 2 cups brown rice puffs
  • 2 tbsp raw coconut nectar
  • 1 tbsp raw cacao powder
  • 2 cups almond milk
  1. Pour brown rice crisps into a bowl.
  2. Add coconut nectar and mix until evenly coated.
  3. Add raw cacao powder and mix until well combined.
  4. Pour almond milk over the cereal.
  5. Enjoy!
