It’s a classic flavor combination. It was my favorite smoothie flavor as a kid. What I’m talking about is this easy, delicious 4-ingredient vegan strawberry banana smoothie. I added in a handful of blueberries, because I’ve been putting them in everything lately from my smoothies to my nice cream to my oats. So you could call this a strawberry banana blueberry smoothie, but for all intensive purposes let’s just stick with strawberry banana. The strawberry + banana combo is really the star of this smoothie anyways.
You’ve probably noticed that I’ve been posting a lot of smoothie recipes lately, like this blueberry blackberry smoothie and pink dragon fruit smoothie. Well, that’s because I’ve been drinking a lot of smoothies lately. We got back from Paris to over 90 degrees and high humidity weather here in Hong Kong. I most definitely am not used to this heat anymore, making me crave smoothies and banana ice cream like crazy.
I’ve also come down with a bad sore throat, which luckily is not strep throat. But it’s still not comfortable and I’ve found it hard to eat. The doctor recommended only cold and soft foods, so smoothies and nice cream all day it is until I get better. Trust me, I’m not complaining!
I keep my fridge stocked with frozen fruit in the summer months, so that I always have some handy for smoothies. I’ve found that with strawberries though, it’s better to use fresh ones because my not-so-fancy blender has a hard time breaking down the frozen ones. The frozen ones always end up in chunky pieces, which is not my favorite texture-wise.
I’d love to hear what you’re favorite smoothie flavors are, so please leave me a comment below or let me know on Instagram! I might even try making one of your suggestions and posting it here on my blog. Also, side note: after traveling for 2 weeks, I realized how much I miss being able to make my own food at home. My food processor and blender are like my babies. I’ve never traveled for that long without access to my own kitchen, so it’s really made me respect what I have. What’s the kitchen appliance or food you couldn’t live without?
